Although not long by modern day standards, measuring 6,138 yards from the medal tees, Peebles is a course demanding accuracy rather than length.
The views from all parts of the course are superb and with beautifully shaped fairways, maturing trees and well prepared sloping greens, Peebles appeals to golfers of all standards.
Both the front nine and back nine begin and end near the clubhouse, featuring a gradual rise up and a gentle walk down. There is a great variety of holes, with challenging par threes, a mixture of strong and short par fours with both nines finishing with a par five, one offering a really good birdie chance and the closing hole completing a very tough finishing stretch.
The fairways have been tightened in recent years to combat technology and good tee shots are well rewarded, with thicker rough awaiting more errant driving. The course has hosted several national championships, most recently the SGU’s Scottish Boys Area Team Championship as well as two Scottish Girls Championships.
Par and SSS are 70 from the medal tees (SSS 71 for Ladies).
