Ewen Ferguson Storms to Victory

Ewen Ferguson from Bearsden Golf Club saved his best until last - and it won him the inaugural Stephen Gallacher Foundation Trophy Under 18 boys, 54 hole tournament at Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf and Country Club, Peebles today.

 

Ewen , third overnight after Saturday's opening 36-holes of 75 and 71, came surging past second-round leader Calum Hill (Tantallon) with a three-under-par 69, which included birdies at the 7th, 12th, 15th and 17th with the only bogey being on the 16th, for a one-under-par total of 215.

 

Ewen won by two shots from three players on the 217 mark. Calum Hill, the overnight leader, Chris MacLean (Clydebank and District) and Connor Syme (Dumfries and County). Connor surged through the field with the lowest round of the tournamnent a four under par 68. The newly crowned Scottish Youths Champion Robert MacIntye (Glencruitten) and Rory Franssen (Inverness) finished tied fifth.
