On a fabulous day, yesterday, we held our 2018 Finals Day at Kingsfield Golf Club, Linlithgow. In total we had 119 boys and girls taking part, which with all the parents meant around 300 people attending. Many thanks to everyone at Kingsfield Golf Club for their help on the day, the course and food were fantastic, special mention to Jane Allan, Robert Arkley and Lee Fraser for all their hard work and to Stephen's wife Helen, mum, Wilma and Janet Fleming and our many volunteers on the day for their fantastic efforts. To my special assistant Stuart Johnston and our merry band of volunteers, Louis Knowles, Lisa MacPherson, Samantha Macgregor, Jim McDiarmid, Val McDiarmid, Jeff Little, Kirsty McAdam, Justin White, Tracy Johnston, Niamh Johnston, Jake Johnston, Scott McAdam, Lyndsy Sturton, Carys Irvine, Carol Knowles and Lynne Little, without these people our events don't run, some of these people helped today but all have been a great help throughout the year, we as a Foundation salute you all. On top of our main event we also held our "Short Game" World Match Play Championship in which all of the children competed in , this was superbly run, as always by our Professional Jane Connachan and her assistant for the day Lynsey Sturton. Our Professionals Jane Connachan, Louis Gaughan and David Burns have done a fantastic job for the Foundation throughout the year and the proof of how good they are is shown not only by the scoring today but by the improvement all the boys and girls have made throughout the year, Well done. The golf on the day was of an exceptional standard and befitting a finals day event. In the stroke play event on the day the Mukherjee family took the spoils with Samuel scoring an excellent 34 in winning the Under 14 Boys and Cameron scoring 39 to win the Under 10 Boys. Fergus Brown scored a fantastic 34 also to win the Under 12 Boys and Katie Graham scored an excellent 38 to win the girls section. The score of the day though was in the flag event with Matthew Kelly in the Under 8’s scoring 34 for the hole course, fantastic, he was ably backed up by the Under 12 Boys section where all three medallists scored 36 or less. The winners of the 2018 Order of Merits were Maisie Witt in the girls event who led from start to finish.
