Lewis Bain was finally presented with his trophy for winning the Stephen Gallacher Foundation sponsored Lothian's Boys 2012 Scratch Order of Merit, last week from Stephen Gallacher at Kingsfield Golf Club. The delay was due to Lewis now being in Illinois, America on a golf scholarship.
Lewis won the Winterfield Open, Murrayfield Open and Mortonhall Open on his way to scoring 384 points and winning the order of merit by 68 points from Fraser Johnston of Longniddry.
Lewis was back over during the festive period but is already back in America, where he seems to be having a great time. We asked Lewis about his time in America and his performances last year, he said "Well I went over to America on the 14 August 2012 on a golf scholarship with l C C C in Illinois, I think it's a really good experience and my golf is coming along great after getting used to the Bermuda grass. When I was playing in Scotland I won the Lothian's boys Order of Merit and reached the quarter finals of the Scottish Boys Matchplay at Murcar, I also won the junior club champion at Turnhouse and won the men's club championship and the junior club championship at Leven, I am really looking forward to going back to college in America, my team won the DACC invitational this year where I was 3rd in the individual event. .It was great to meet Stephen today to receive my trophy and many thanks to the Foundation for sponsoring Lothian's golf. I am really looking forward to the coming year and competing in more events in America and playing in Scottish mens events this year."
The Foundation wishes Lewis all the best in the coming year in America and look forward to seeing him when he is back.
