The Linlithgowshire Golf Championships for Under 18, Under 16 and Under 13's took place at Bathgate Golf Club. Around 50 boys participated in the event and congratulations must go to Bathgate Golf Club and their green staff for having the course, not only open, but in excellent condition considering the weather..
On the day all the boys enjoyed the golf and managed to get round without rain which lately has been rare.
The Under 18 scratch event, or Linlithgowshire Trophy, was won by Andrew Loch ( Pumpherston) who had an excellent score of 74, with the handicap event being won by J McLaughlin ( Bathagte) with a net 66.
The Under 16 scratch event which is known as the " Walker Cup" has some amazing history behind it, not only has it been won by two ex Ryder Cup Captains, Eric Brown and Bernard Gallacher, it has also been won by Stephen himself, his dad and obviously his Uncle Bernard. The winner on the day was Adam Loch ( Pumpherston) younger brother of the U 18 winner, so keeping everything in the family, Adam returned and excellent score also of 74. The handicap winner was L Mowbray ( Bathgate) with a nett 65.
The Under 13 event or Bathgate Centenary Trophy is played over 12 holes and was won by Ross Callan (Bathagte) with an excellent score of 53, Ross is the son of the resident professional, Stuart Callan, so clearly the family lessons are working. SImilarily the best handicap score was from Jack Gallacher ( Bathgate) with a nett 51, so Stephens tips are being put to good use also.
All in all it was a very successful day and Stephen was thankfyully there on the day to present the prizes to the lucky winners.
