The Three Foundations
Paul Lawrie Foundation, Stephen Gallacher Foundation and Barrie Douglas Foundation each host an event, annually, for the top young golfers throughout Scotland (and further afield) to compete against one another. Although each event – The Paul Lawrie Foundation Junior Jug, The Stephen Gallacher Foundation Jug & Vase and The Barrie Douglas Foundation Junior Masters – has it’s own, distinct identity and each event carries points counting towards the overall Scottish Golf Order of Merit, this year we’ll introduce our own mini Order of Merit specifically for the Race to Machrie, rewarding the best performers from the three events.
The Foundation events are due to take place in the early stage of the golf season - 31 May to 2 June (Strathmore, Perthshire); 7 to 9 June PLF Junior Jug (Pollok GC, Glasgow); 15 & 16 June SGF Trophy & Vase (MacDonald Cardrona G&CC, Peebles).
The Machrie Hotel & Golf Links
Golf has been played at The Machrie since 1891. Designed by Willie Campbell and more recently modernised by course architect DJ Russell – former European Tour Winner & Ryder Cup Vice-Captain - TheMachrie combines the very best of a traditional, historic links course from a previous age, with a modern Links. The need for thought, imagination and creative shot-making has not changed throughout the years and carries as much of a premium over sheer power now, as it did then.
Set in the dunes of Islay, Queen of the Hebrides, The Machrie Hotel & Golf Links enjoys an enviable location, nestled beside seven miles of pristine beach in the Inner Hebrides.
Opened in late Summer 2018 after a complete renovation and expansion, The Machrie Hotel now comprises 47 beautifully designed rooms, suites and lodges, some with their own outdoor terraces and stunning views across the Links.
The hotel offers visitors many places to meet and relax including 18, our impressive restaurant with panoramic views of the Links, as well as a PureGray Spa.
The dramatic setting of Laggan Bay has few equals and the ever-changing nature of the challenge offered by this acclaimed layout make it a Scottish links which has got to be played!
