Report from Stuart Hutchison Trophy
Report from Stuart Hutchison Trophy Today we held our latest event at Swanston Templar GC, the Stuart Hutchison Trophy. 81 boys and girl entered to compete on a beautiful day for golf, with the course in great condition for everyone. Many thanks to everyone at Swanston for their help on the day. This is an event we have run for the last 8 years courtesy of The Hutchison family, who have been kindly raising monies towards our Foundation from the beginning. The trophies are in memory of their golfing son Stuart who tragically died in a road accident in 2009. Stuart was an assistant Professional at Swanston and played his golf as a youngster at the course. Stuart was a great advocate of wanting to help young people learn the wonderful game of golf and it is fitting that we hold this event at his beloved course. The Hutchison Family are an amazing family and have always been behind us supporting the kids into this beautiful game. On the day we had our Professional Jane Connachan with us, giving the kids some tips before they commenced with their game, clearly this worked well based on the excellent scoring on the day, the winners of the main event the Stuart Hutchison Trophies were, the boys champion Kiron Gribble who scored and excellent -1 under par 26 with 8, 3's and 1, 2 on his scorecard, to win the event by only one shot from Eddie Jackson who scored 27 , which had 3, 2's on his card and Cameron Medlrum who also scored 27, with 2, 2's on his card while the girls champion Louise Martin scored a brilliant 30 with 7, 3's on her card, to win by 5 from defending Champion Megan Fallon, well done to both the winners. Other notable scores for the day in the rest of the sections, go to Harry Mody, Dylan Wardrop and Alex Martin in the Under 10 Boys Flag who scored 35, 35 and 34. Oliver McCormack in the Under 12 Boys Flag who scored 33, Sam Irvine in the Under 14 Boys Flag scored 36, Isla Findlay in Under 14 Girls Flag scored 36, all the boys and girls now qualify for the stroke play sections in future events. In total an incredible 38 boys and girls scored 40 or less, fantastic well done. A special mention though has to go to Craig Mackenzie age 11, who had his first hole in one at the 78yrd 4th hole today, fantastic Craig The full results for today are as follows: STUART HUTCHISON TROPHY BOYS CHAMPION KIRON GRIBBLE Score 26 STUART HUTCHISON GIRLS CHAMPION LOUISE MARTIN Score 30 STROKE PLAY SECTIONS Under 14 Girls 1.
